Every woman has to go through the troubles and hassles of menopause just like she enjoys her motherhood. Menopause is her body's way of shutting the doors to her reproductive system and there are essential hormonal changes that she undergoes during this time. The reproductive hormones that started working when she was about fifteen stop working when she is close to forty five and this warrants a lot of changes.
Putting on weight is any day a big problem for women who love to be in shape and with the onset of menopause when women put on weight, they become overly cautious and unhappy about the fact. The reason for this undue weight gain is the hormonal imbalance that takes place in a woman during her menopausal stages.
These hormonal changes put on weight because they increase the stress levels in women and lower the metabolism rate as well. When metabolism rates are lower; everything that we eat is converted to fat. Why and how does this happen? One is due to hormonal change. The second is due to lack of physical activity. Exercises done during this stage help women shape up their bodies again and recover their optimism and self confidence.
Having said this about exercises - it is very important what exercises are done. Too much of exercises that are too strenuous should not be done. The body will be too weak and exercising could only hamper the body more. Simple exercises like aerobics can be done. This will be beneficial for the woman as exercising will also relieve her of the stress that is building in her due to the hormonal imbalance that has been created. Women also feel psychologically low because of their weight gain and exercising or aerobics will also make them feel confident all over again.
As we age, we lose muscle tissue and this muscle tissue is the one that increases the metabolism - so if there is lesser muscle tissue then the rate of metabolism is lesser. So women can chose exercises that tighten up their muscles and enhance the building of muscle tissue. Women, who regularly exercise, can try changing their exercises or doing a little more than they usually do to help them beat the weight gain.
